Abstract In this paper, an IoT-based knee functional rehabilitation smart system is proposed. This system aims to reduce patient mobility to attend the rehabilitation session, in order to achieve good accessibility and proper management of transport, improving thus smart cities' characteristics in terms of smart living, smart mobility, and smart healthcare. The architectural model of the proposed system is designed in a manner to ensure the telemonitoring function of the rehabilitation process, and the remote access to feedback information for both the practitioners and patients. It consists of three main components: measurement instrumentation, processing and transmission unit, and cloud data storage and visualization. Furthermore, the results obtained in the experimental test showed that measurements error percentages were lower than 2%, and the data displayed in the cloud are significant, indicating that the accuracy and reliability of the developed system are satisfactory, as well as telerehabilitation engineering has prospects in Inclusive smart city applications.
