Abstract |
The automotive industry is among the most impactful to the environment. Within this segment, there is the commercial vehicle industry, which does not normally return end-of-life product parts to the market. In this context, remanufacturing is a process that contributes by restoring parts to new condition, returning them to the life cycle. The Circular Economy is an alternative to the linear model, seeking to develop business models that decouple economic growth from negative environmental impacts. Remanufacturing is already recognized as a means to support circularity, but there is a lack of studies that present the relationship between the two themes with empirical data. The objective of this research is to analyze a remanufacturing process in the automotive sector and elements of the Circular Economy present in it. The method used was a case study in a commercial vehicle industry and the sources of evidence were semi-structured interviews, direct observation, documentary research and archival records. The results show several elements of the technical cycle of the Circular Economy in the Remanufacturing process, namely the conservation of natural capital, dematerialization, reuse and redistribution, recycling and positive externality, in addition to the remanufactured materials loop itself. |
