Abstract |
Smart cities and intelligent infrastructures promise to solve issues caused by urban population growth and improve public welfare. Taiwan is an example of a place where smart city technologies have been employed but traffic management is still a topic of great interest for councils and researchers since it has great impact on the daily life of the citizens and several accidents continue being reported threatening pedestrian's safety. The proposed architecture in this study suggests the possibility to control the time of the traffic lights considering the number of pedestrians waiting to cross the road. This paper presents a detailed analysis of the scenario, a description of the proposed system and an evaluation of its performance. |
