Abstract A Wavelength Division Multiplexing Radio over Fiber system, remarkably tolerant to chromatic dispersion and suitable for employment in smart city environments, is suggested and demonstrated. This system utilizes Differential Quadrature Phase Shift Keying, an advanced modulation technique, in combination with an Optical Phase Conjugation (OPC) technique to efficaciously weaken the brunt of chromatic dispersion. The study precisely analyzes the consequences of variation in transmission distance and input power, particularly centering on the tolerance of the system to chromatic dispersion over long haul distances. The enhancement in the performance of the proposed system is endorsed through precisely obtained eye diagrams, exhibiting remarkable purity of signals even at distances as long as 200 km. Assessment metrics like Q Factor, Bit Error Rate and Optical Signal to Noise Ratio are utilized to estimate the system's efficiency. Comparative investigations accentuate the substantial performance enhancement achieved by the ingenious system, positioning it as a potent solution for long haul Radio over Fiber communication in smart cities.
