Abstract |
Based on information collected at the IPv6 Discussion hosted by the National Forum of Internet Protocol Number Policy in Bali dated April 12, 2017, Indonesia is lagging behind in implementing IPv6. In terms of network, Indonesia is ready however in terms of traffic is still very low. There are important developments to note, the rapidly growing Internet, Smart City, the Internet of Things, the rising cyber security risks, and the development of mobile broadband. This makes the need for IPv6 higher as a safe and reliable internet resource. Slow IPv6 implementation increases the risk of internet security in Indonesia. Unfortunately, the biggest ISP in Indonesia seems reluctant for migrating its network to support IPv6. They argues that the content industry is not ready for IPv6 yet. The government as IPv6 promoter must find a solution to speed up IPv6 implementation. |
