Abstract |
The interdependent infrastructures of a smart city constitute a complex cyber-physical system. In our research we address the challenging question how to make such a system more resilient. In particular, we focus on the interactive human participation in managing the disaster response if a natural or other kind of disaster has damaged or destroyed critical infrastructures of the city. We discuss challenges and requirements and present a solution approach combining two state-of-the-art technologies, i.e. digital twins and chat bots using extended AI language models. Our main goal is to support disaster managers from different rescue teams with decision support interfaces that can effectively facilitate their collaboration by bridging the heterogeneity and augmenting human capacity. The main contribution of this paper is a detailed explanation why and how such a tool combination is a promising solution for the disaster response phase as part of a comprehensive solution for more resilient smart cities. |
