Abstract |
This paper questions urban model of the smart city, taking as a starting point the doubts of Le Corbusier regarding Chandigarh and the critical perspectives it draws on the urban model of the Radiant City and the Athens Charter. From those doubts and its developments the paper proposes recognition of the technical potential that powers the smart city model as well as the divergent poetic and alternatives criticisms opposed to it. Thus, two phases of smart cities are defined, distinguishing the historical transformations and strategic adaptations of the model in the past years. The paper then describes cases that contradict the smart city model and suggests the exploration of speculative openings beyond the boundaries of technical excellence, in a strictly technological field. |
