Abstract |
Phasor Measurement Units or PMU is a measurement device that produces synchronised measurement of phasor, frequency and rate of change of frequency from voltage and/or current signals based on a common time source that typically is the one provided by the Global Positioning System UTC-GPS [1]. It enables operators to monitor the network operating status in real time so as to take corresponding actions promptly and effectively while the network can be properly protected and supply can be restored automatically when fault incidents happen. PMU system can also provide the dedicated information to enhance the system protection scheme, supply reliability and asset utilisation so that the operators can operate the network smartly. This paper discusses system architecture design on the appropriate PMU technology for CLP Power's system, acquisition, installation, operation and performance evaluation of the PMU system in CLP Power's distribution network. |
