Abstract |
One of the uses of the internet of things is a smart city. Increasing population rate and urbanization have heightened some creative approaches to handle the problems with negligible impact on the natural ecosystem, residents' style of living, and administration. Initially, the use of Information Communication Technology (ICT) raised the concept of information city, telicity, and digital city. Afterward, IoT has established the idea of smart cities, which upgrades and enhances cities' activities with insignificant human cooperation. However, because of technological, economical, and governing barriers, the smart city concept is still not widespread throughout the world. Therefore, the main objective of this paper is to convey the embodiment of smart cities. The article gives a review of smart cities, trailed by their characteristics and components. Some of the famous smart cities in the world, the role of IoT, and the role of Big Data in the implementation of smart cities were discussed. Finally, some of the difficulties and openings distinguished through the study on smart cities. |
