| Abstract |
Smart city is to make full use of information and communication technologies to collect, analyze, and integrate the key information of city operation, so as to intelligently meet the needs in improving people's livelihood, environmental protection, public safety, city services, and industrial and commercial activities and create better city life for mankind. Along with the rapid development of information technology, internet technology, and wireless communication technique, city informatization has become the main trend of modem urban development. Through building smart city, modem city's function of information collection and distribution can be better achieved and the urban functions can become intelligent, promoting the harmonious and sustainable development of the city. Against the background of informatization, the paper the analyzes the significance of building smart city, explores the achievements and problems in smart city building (especially large-and medium- sized cities) in China, and studies the underlying reasons for the problems. They are serious city homogenization, lack of market orientation, unsound systems to protect and supervise the use of information, lack of national standards for core internet technology, and lack of professional talents. Then, this paper puts forward the approaches to promote smart city construction in China. |
