Abstract |
Many initiatives have spawned in the latest years around the globe regarding the publication of Open Government Data. However, the increasing quantity of data available in this field is hard to process, visualize and integrate due to different formats being used, various usage licenses, erroneous data, lack of metadata and so on. These issues can be successfully tackled by publishing the data as Linked Open Government Data (LOGD). This is possible because of the processing that takes place in the various stages of the LOGD lifecycle: discovery, cleansing, modelling, publication, licensing, dissemination and exploitation. This paper gives an overview of LOGD initiatives and usage from around the world, with a focus on using LOGD in Smart City applications. The author also presents two case studies of such applications built using data from the Open Government Data ecosystem in Romania. |
