Abstract One of the great challenges of humanity today is to manage the consumption of resources and increase their recycling. Current overconsumption constantly aggravates resource insufficiency, by producing an aggressive impact on the environment. The circular economy model is the way to provide the necessary resources and from politicians to companies and consumers the transition to this modern economic system requires responsibility. Worldwide there are concerns in this direction, looking for new ways of financing such sustainable models, both in production and consumption. The functioning of the circular economy model is not easy, it involves transition funds and consistent investments This study aims to analyse the degree to which specific circular economy strategies are known, understood and implemented in Romania. Also, the quantitative research undertaken on the Romanian market analyses the connection between various factors, such as the structure of the social capital, the field of activity, the number of employees, the investments in research-development-innovation, the organizational culture and the stage of the transition to the circular economy in which those companies are.
