Abstract Against the background of a steadily increasing demand for resources, the Circular Economy represents a relevant approach to using resources more efficiently. However, the factors influencing business models in this area are still largely unexplored in a regional context. This article examines the political, economic, socio-cultural, technological, ecological-geographical and legal factors influencing business models in the circular economy on the basis of a systematic literature review. Influencing factors in each of the mentioned areas are identified. Based on this, hypotheses regarding the effects of the influencing factors on the business models are derived.
