Abstract |
The ban on neonicotinoid seed treatment from 2024 will increase the risk of damage to sugar beet plants and demands for early pest monitoring. A higher incidence of the Chaetocnema spp. and wireworms can be expected from the very first year, followed by Atomaria linearis and viral yellows in the following years. There are currently enough registered insecticides against sucking pests to compensate for the absence of neonicotinoid seed treatment, but at the cost of increasing the number of applications and insecticide use, which is contrary to the Green Deal objectives. |
