Abstract Since the introduction of the first European Renewable Energy Directive in 2009, PV installations have significantly increased to reach more than 211 GWp in the European Union at the end of 2022. The European Solar Communication and it's Solar Strategy can help to accelerate not only the deployment of urgently needed new renewable energy and photovoltaic power capacity, but also help to revamp a competitive European solar value chain, which will not only provide local jobs and wealth creation, but also hedge against the risk of global supply chain disruptions in the future.
