Abstract |
Home Energy Management Systems (HEMS) stem as a promising solution to improve sustainable patterns of energy consumption within Smart Homes, which could significantly contribute to achieving the United Nation's sustainable development goals. In this paper, we present a resource-based reference model of such a system, which is based on the Multi-Agent systems (MAS) paradigm. Our model builds upon existing distributed demand-side management strategies, where agents are involved in a proposal-based business process leading to a schedule that organises the activation of the Smart Home's appliances. The proposed model serves as a starting point for implementing the Home Energy Management System and for future simulations that will validate the effectiveness of this solution. |
