Abstract |
Since entering the new century, in the backdrop of the global common concerns caused by climate changes, China has been focusing more on energy conservation and emissions reduction as well as development of low-carbon economy. As low-carbon economy creates more profit margins and market opportunities for financial institutions, China's commercial banks begin practices of carbon financing services such as green credits. Green credit embeds the concept of environmental protection in investing and financing activities, thus promoting sustainable development of the economy in a way more friendly and harmonious to the ecological environment. It is noticed, however, that the green credit business in China faces general credit risk and some other special financial risks as well, in the process of implementing related policies. In order to effectively prevent the credit risks as such, research and discussions on control over green credit risks in general by commercial banks are of very vital significance. This paper endeavors to build the model of green credit risk, aiming to provide a referential model to improve the green credit business of commercial banks in China. |
