Abstract In the 21st century reality, environmentally sustainable development is the unique choice able to ensure the continuing habitability of the planet, therefore environment protection initiatives shall be strongly supported. Emission Trading Systems (ETS) are amongst the available economic mechanisms targeting industry greenhouse gases (GHG) emissions reduction and its consequential sustainability. Considering such scenario, the present study analyzes the literature tackling ETS implementation economic modeling and the assessment of its impacts on some of the industry business dynamics, with considerations regarding the Aviation domain. A research gap was identified when referring to studies holistically assessing the ETS implementation impacts on multi-chained domains as aviation, where emissions abatement policies, procedures and technologies may be uncoordinated applied throughout different interdependent segments.
