| Abstract |
The paper deals with definitions of urban culture in relation to various fields: town planning, architecture, anthropology, urban sociology, cultural management. The coordinates of urban culture - in the context of (economic, technological, social, ecological and cultural) integrated urban development - depend on the local context, the typology of cities and communities. Our research work deals with urban culture coordinates in large cities, where social polarization and economic stratification as well as the contrasting ways of living and mentalities are more obvious. Moreover, in cities we find most of the cultural institutions and creative industry organizations - spaces for creating the cultural contents and behavioral rules able to reshape the urbanity model. But there are problems concerning urban culture in localities lacking in economic units, resources, and productive businesses towns which we could define by the well-known phrase "places where nothing happens". |
