Abstract |
This research aims to study the drivers of agricultural value chains from an emerging market perspective by using total interpretive structure modelling (TISM) and then further empirically validate the framework. To achieve the study objective, in addition to an extensive literature review and expert views, primary data has been collected from 106 farmers to clarify the drivers of the agriculture value chain. Based on the review and the elements of the work system theory, we confirmed the drivers as: technology adoption, capacity building, diversified business, top management commitment, infrastructure and logistics, awareness and knowledge about demand and supply uncertainty, customer focus, competitive advantage, supplier relation management, and waste management process. The study's key findings focus on the predictive value of significant drivers for a sustainable agriculture value chain. These drivers have an integrated and transitive link with each other which may be helpful for the firms in developing a strategic road map for sustaining the agriculture value chain. The model and its predictive value may help the firms to construct a strategy to integrate the drivers. |
