Abstract Given the current concerns about the degradation of the planet and social inequality arising from business activities, it is possible to examine an increasing need for integration of more responsible actions in both research and practice in the management of organizations. These social and environmental impacts are driving organizations to rethink their management models, seeking a new focus that goes beyond traditional forms towards a pro-sustainability management. This study aims to understand the process of moving to a management model for sustainability and the perception of employees against this change. Interviews with employees of a Brazilian company were held and direct observations non participants. The results indicate that the design and implementation of a pro-sustainability model is possible, within the reality of the studied company. Also, workers opine positively about the change process and realize that the company contributes to a more sustainable development.
