Abstract This article is a techno-economical view on present-day industries and their analogues in nature. Earth's evolution shows many efficient and robust designs. Adopting nature certainly provides valuable insights towards sustainable concepts. Here, biology-engineering correlations are given from a high-tech perspective. In evolution many natural processes, such as population growth, follow a characteristic curve. Alike behaviors are seen in technology development. Synergy, such as between flowers and bees, is a successful relationship in nature. Similar observations can be made with electronics and energy industries. Symbiosis, like between clownfish and anemone, is another victorious alliance. Modern business models consider correspondingly akin partnerships. The conversion of light energy is key in biological photosynthesis and artificial photovoltaics. A there seen adaptation is the chemical makeup of natural occurring structures such as those found in minerals.
