Abstract |
Science and technology has become an integral part of our daily lives with technological advancements leading to the development of increasingly interactive devices such as personal computers, note books, note pads, smart phones, etc. Adopting technology to leverage the nation's productivity through Electronic Governance (E-governance) is but natural. E-governance leads to smart Governance; however, it is currently going through a transitional phase and there is an urgent need to address the challenges faced in implementing E-governance in India. This paper identifies some crucial issues in E-governance such as adaptability, communication-gaps, technology limitations, training issues, infrastructure and economic viability. Apart from identifying the challenges of E-Governance, this paper also provides solutions, which can be adopted by the government for efficient and effective utilization of available resources such as human resource, financial resource and technology to the maximum extent possible. Embracing information and communication technology in Governance will enable revolutionary changes to be made that will serve to boost the nation's economy and enhance the quality of life of its citizens. |
