Abstract Waste is a material which can be processed many times and the closed circuit economy can use its potential. There are very large possibilities to effectively use the resources in Poland as well as in the Czech Republic. It is worth to notice that in the recent years awareness of the advantages coming from protection of the environment which is a base to change the model of the waste management increased significantly. Business advantages related to the circular economy, innovative approach to use the waste materials and also responsibility of the manufacturer are added value in the process. The main task for the coming years will be raising the awareness of residents of both countries in the field of proper management of municipal waste in order to achieve increased levels of recovery from recycling under EU commitments. The aim of the article is to assess the fulfillment of UE conditions in the field of waste management in Poland.
