| Abstract | Circular economy is an economic model that represents a new alternative to a traditional linear economy built on the principle of "producing - consuming - destroying. Thanks to the circulation of materials in the economy, resources in the production process can be kept as long as they can and get the maximum value during use. The circular economy and its basic principles are based on the idea that all product and material flows can be reintegrated into their cycle after their use, where they will again become sources for new products and services. Producing with less impact on the environment and assessing the impact of products throughout the life cycle of the product design phase is only the first step. Good product ecological design, innovation, and the return of materials back to production can bring great financial savings and long-term growth. The Cradle to Cradle principle also motivates companies not to produce only less harmful products, but also to improve the environment around us. In the current global era, there are a large number of positive examples of companies, whether in Slovakia or abroad, which are trying to recover, recycle and reuse existing materials or get waste back into production. In the paper we will discuss the theoretical background to the issue of the circulating economy, the cradle to cradle principle, and in practical examples we will show how these principles can work effectively in practice and provide international companies with a competitive advantage and growth potential. |
