| Abstract | Climate crisis is obviously an international problem that requires concerted actions by all regions and countries in the world. In the recent years, many various national and international organisations launched specific ini-tiatives for counteracting progress of climate change and environmental degradation, which are based on sus-tainability. Currently, one of the most important concepts for the implementation of the sustainable development (SD) principles is a green deal. In the available literature, there are no works that present a comprehensive description of various approaches for implementing the green deal, in various regions and countries of the world. Therefore, this paper presents a comprehensive inventory of the definitions of green deal concepts and Green Deal Strategies (GDSs) that were launched at the national, international and European levels in the 21st century. This paper also underlines the importance of the green deal in post-COVID recovery plans in various regions of the world. In general, the green deal could be defined as a strategy for mobilisation of whole community and enterprises to create clean and green economy through implementation of pro-environmental solutions in various sectors, which take into account the three aspirations of sustainable development -the well-being of people, the environment and economic sustainability. The reviewed concepts of "green deal", "green new deal", "global green new deal" and "European Green Deal" refer to various sets of policies that aim to make systemic changes to protect the planet. So far, the GDSs were launched at the national (United States, United Kingdom, South Korea), European (European Green Deal) and international (United Nations) levels. In the following years, the further regions and countries move toward rebuilding their economies after COVID-19, and there is strong need to include green solutions in post-COVID recovery plans. The GDS can play a strategic role in 'greening' of recovered economies. |
