Title Polymeric materials in sustainable development - from the need to use to the need for wear Part I. There is no turning back from "plastics"

Published Polimery, 64, 11-12
Abstract The Packet for Circular Economy accepted by EU in 2015 is actually the most mature form for the realization of the Strategy for Sustainable Development. For the implementation of its assumption plastics play the role of the aim of the activity as well as of the aid for it. The importance of polymeric materials for the contemporary world as a constructional material omnipresent in all branches of economy, everyday life and culture was demonstrated within this study. Moreover, their unrecognized and often underestimated significance for the environment protection was depicted. It was also revealed that science and technology still did not find any substitutes allowing, even partially, for the replacement for material of millennium as plastics are in their commercial applications with simultaneous reduction of the environmental impact of end-life wastes. The real reasons of the accumulation of these wastes in the nature were also discussed in detail.
