| Abstract | The purpose of this paper is to present a comprehensive look on the key factors that may encourage higher learning institutions to adopt green technology. An extensive literature review was conducted and found a research gap in the area of green technology adoption by higher learning institutions in Malaysia. Based on this premise, the authors set out to propose a green technology adoption framework. Extensive literature reviews resulted in the identification of five constructs: cost, environmental concern, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and research involvement. These constructs will determine green technology adoption intention of higher learning institutions. Five hypotheses were formulated for future empirical research to assess the willingness and readiness of higher learning institutions to adopt green technology innovations. Though the study is conceptual in nature, its findings can be used as the foundation for future research in order to assess the readiness of higher learning institutions in Malaysia to implement green initiatives and practices. |
