Abstract With the acceleration of global informatization and urbanization, the concept of smart city has been favored by numerous international and domestic urban management teams. In recent years, it has become an advanced stage for urban development as well as a new academic field for international and domestic scholars. In the 21st century, it is a new topic to address those problems rising in the urbanization process with the operation mechanism of smart city. Based on relevant theories and research hypothesis, this paper discusses and explores the early warning options for public crisis in smart cities. First, the paper analyzes the status of early warning against public crisis in China's smart cities and the existing problems. It goes on to locate in-depth causes of those problems and draws upon early options for public crisis in international and domestic cities based on features of smart city. In the end, it proposes several suggestions on the improvement of the current early warning options for public crisis in China's smart cities.
