| Abstract | One of the key proposals of the new von der Leyen Commission has been the elaboration of the European Green Deal, which aims to transform the economy of the European Union into a sustainable economy. Its main objective is to achieve a balance between greenhouse gas emissions and their absorption, thereby complying with the objective set by the Paris Agreement, which pursues climate neutrality by the middle of the century. However, despite the Union's climate ambition, the emergence of COVID-19 threatens to undermine its green policies, although a ray of hope to decisively address those policies in the context of the necessary economic recovery after the damage caused by the coronavirus, seems to be emerging. |
